
Steve Campbell
Coach Steve Campbell is a USPTA tennis professional with over 35 years of coaching, junior development, and facility management in Colorado, Hawaii, California, and Texas.
Coach Steve has returned to Colorado after spending five years in Virginia at the Wintergreen Resort. Steve also spent nine years in Hawaii, with seven years on the Big Island and two years on Maui. On the Big Island he served as Head Boy’s Tennis Coach at the international boarding school Hawaii Preparatory Academy, leading the boy’s team to six consecutive Hawaii Championships. Coach Steve also directed tennis at the Vic Braden Tennis College at the Fairmont Orchid. He directed tennis on the island of Maui, at the world-class tennis resort Kapalua Tennis Garden and was the Head Boys Coach at Maui Preparatory Academy. In Colorado, Steve was the former Director of Tennis at the Country Club of Colorado, at the Cheyenne Mountain Resort, in Colorado Springs.
Coach Steve has worked with USTA in various positions as a coach: Coach USTA Boys 18s Junior Davis Cup, Coach Boys16 Inter-sectionals, Coach for 14s and 12s USTA Zonals, and Team Colorado. Steve served on the USTA Intermountain Junior Competitive Committee and was the Intermountain Sectional Tournament Director. Coach Steve throughout his career has coached numerous ranked juniors, with many whom have gone on to compete collegiately, as well as a several that have played professionally.
Steve spent years coaching with and studying under legendary International Hall of Fame Coach Vic Braden, regarded by many as one of the greatest tennis coaches. Coach Steve’s wife Colleen is also a highly experienced coach, their daughter Corey was a two-time Colorado state singles champion, later playing for Boise State, and is now a First Lieutenant in the Army stationed in Germany. Coach Steve’s family is a tennis family, they love tennis and improving players.
Coaching Philosophy: “I believe in creating a fun learning environment where we can maximize players learning experience and improvement in the shortest amount of time. There is no wrong way to hit a ball, but the laws of science and the dimensions of the court dictate what happens with the ball.”
